Tucked away in the northeastern corner of Ohio, the Jefferson Depot Village volunteers saved and restored the 1872 Lake Shore & Michigan Southern Railroad Station just 2 weeks before its scheduled demolition. Then they moved 15 original 19th-century buildings from Ashtabula County to the depot. Enjoy Ohio’s living history and historical reenactments at famous homes, villages, farms, and castles.
There’s also great hiking in the summer and sledding, snowmobiling or cross-country skiing in winter. Some employees have heard the sound of children’s laughter when there are no children around. In 1832, Harriet Beecher moved to Cincinnati from Connecticut with her father, Dr. Lyman Beecher who was appointed president of the seminary. This was the time of the construction of the northern portion of the Ohio and Erie Canals. The home exhibits excellent examples of Western Reserve architectural style and construction techniques used at the time. Pilgrims are encouraged to explore the grounds, appreciate the beautiful architecture, stroll along sacred paths and enjoy an environment of serenity and solitude. The north side is set off by a beautiful stained glass window. The original house on this site was a Victorian style that burned in 1919. Although there are many examples of Queen Anne style, there are few built with rose brick and mortar.

This elegant stucco Arts & Crafts style house has grand proportions. The front porch is supported by large Tuscan style columns. Ft. brick home was built in the Eclectic style with Dutch influence in the gables and Ionic fluted columns on the porch and second floor.
